July 2014 044Do you love tropical fruit and an ice-cream-like texture?  Well, you are going to love this refreshing, summertime smoothie!

Instead of cocktails on the deck after work try a smoothie on the deck while basking in the sun for your vitamin D!  Pretend you are on a beach somewhere dipping your feet into the sand and watching the cool, clear ocean waves roll in and out.

  • 1 cup coconut water

  • 2/3 cup frozen mango

  • 2/3 cup frozen pineapple

This looks like vacation in a glass! Sometimes it’s nice to have a non-green smoothie.

Hi, this looks really good but what if I don’t have a Vitamix? Will this work in a regular blender? Thanks!

    1. Jen

Hi, yes you can use a regular blender (it isn’t perfect but it is pretty good) — the key is to implement my specific blending tips when using a more modest blender. Check out the details how to do that here ==>

This smoothie looks right up my alley. I am committed to making some small changes to find more happiness with life. Maybe starting out with non-green ones will help me build some momentum. What can I use in place of the coconut oil if I can’t find it at the store?

    1. Jen

Hi Gina, so glad the Mango Pineapple Sorbet Smoothie looks like something you could incorporate into your routine. In lieu of the coconut oil you could put a squirt of hemp or flax oil but honestly coconut oil really gives it that tropical, decadent flair.

I just recently found your site via the Raw Food World. I saw this recipe and made it immediately. It tasted like heaven! Even my kids loved it! Can’t wait to try more of your recipes.

Would this be an appropriate smoothie for someone with blood sugar issues?

    1. Jen

I would shy away from this if I had blood sugar issues and steer more towards other recipes listed in my recipe box here ==>

I usually don’t use a lot of high-sugary fruits but this is an exception.

    This looks like dessert…YUM!

Enjoy, Veronica! It is a tasty guilt free treat!

My, this looks heavenly. I’m going to pickup some frozen fruit tonight so I can make this for the kids in the morning!

Thanks Sarah, it’s very refreshing on a summer day and kid approved!
