July 4th Family Fun

We headed down to Iowa to see my sister and her family over the July 4th weekend.  Boy, it sure seemed like such a long drive but it is so worth it.

Here’s me wondering…are we there yet?  Staying hydrated with some iced green tea, of course.

last tryAnd Jason, breaking into the snacks…deer jerky…our dog just loved the odorous meat!

More snacks: cucumber lemon smoothie juice, macrobars, bananas and raw kale chips!

My sister has two of the most magnetic kids I have ever met and I just loved playing, reading books and chit chatting with them.

The adults set out for an afternoon of sun and fun.  Our first stop was at Penoach Winery in Adel, Iowa.

We had such a serene afternoon.  We taste-tested most of their wines and had a personable experience with the owners who live there on the property in an old-fashioned farm house.  I dream of living like this someday (but not in Iowa)!

Tell us…what did you do over the 4th of July weekend?

Looks like you had a great weekend. I love red wine too! Do you like those MacroBars? I’ve had them and they weren’t that great tasting but I ate them anyways. 🙂

Looks like it was a fun road trip!
