Young Living Essential Oils are Awesome!

Hi ya, friends and family.  I always keep my eye out for new and interesting health or food-related products…it’s kind of my guilty pleasure.  Some people like to splurge on eating at restaurants, bar hopping, clothes shopping or whatever…but I’d rather invest my hard earned money into a different kind of enjoyment which aligns with healing into my most vibrant self.

So rewind back to last year when my hubby discovered Young Living Essential Oils through a friend of his.  He immediately bought the lemon essential oil but frankly that essence never really appealed to me.  He uses the drops to spice up his water and hasn’t used them for any aromatherapy purposes.  Their oils are food grade so they can be used to create dressings, sauces, dips, dessert glazes, etc.  I don’t know how they would hold up in cooked/baked goods but I should probably give that a try and get back to you!

lemon

According to Young Living Essential Oils:
Lemon (Citrus limon) has a strong, purifying, citrus scent that is revitalizing and uplifting. Lemon consists of 68 percent dlimonene, a powerful antioxidant. It is delightfully refreshing in water and may be beneficial for the skin. Lemon may also be used to enhance the flavor of foods. Lemon essential oil is cold-pressed from the rinds of lemons. Jean Valnet MD estimated that it takes 3,000 lemons to produce one kilo of oil. In his book, The Practice of Aromatherapy, Valnet wrote that lemon is a tonic for supporting the nervous and sympathetic nervous system.*   Lemon has an approximate ORAC of 6,619 (TE/L). TE/L is expressed as micromole Trolox equivalent per liter.

Fast forward to this month…I finally decided to order the grapefruit essential oil from Young Living Essential Oils.  I’ve had this on my Amazon Wish List since last year and decided now was the time and I’m so glad I did!  I’m just loving sipping on this in my water.  I drink a ton of water every day so it’s nice to change things up a bit!  And it is energizing as they state below in the description…I made the mistake of drinking this as a nightcap and I could not get to sleep!!!

According to Young Living Essential Oils:
Grapefruit (Citrus paradisi) has a fresh, citrus aroma that is energizing and uplifting. Rich in the powerful antioxidant d-limonene, it is nourishing to the skin. Like many coldpressed citrus oils, it is a popular oil to use in conjunction with weight management programs. Grapefruit may also be used to enhance the flavor of food and water.  Grapefruit has an approximate ORAC of 226,234 (TE/L). TE/L is expressed as micromole Trolox equivalent per liter.

They sent me some free samples of their Slique Tea which is totally awesome and I will definitely put it on my Amazon wish list!

tea

According to Young Living Essential Oils:
Slique Tea is an exotic drink from Young Living that has been formulated with natural ingredients to help support individual weight goals. This blend is rich in flavonoids, a dietary compound generally associated with helping maintain certain normal, healthy body functions. It also contains polyphenols, which may be useful as part of a guilt-free weight-management regimen when combined with a healthy diet and physical activity. This unique blend is enhanced with 100% pure therapeutic grade Arabian frankincense powder, exclusively sourced from Young Living’s distillery in Salalah, Oman.

    Hi Jen!

I used grapefruit oil when I was pregnant on my first child. I was a teacher then, and I needed some extra support! It helped me with my mood. I never thought to use lemon oil in water or in baking…hmmmmm…you may have started something here…I love baking a nice old fashion pound cake…I will try it out and cut a slice for everyone on this feed :) Have a blessed one!

I haven’t tried using Essential Oils to flavor my water. I usually just squeeze a slice of lemon into my water. I’ll have to give this a try.

    1. Jen

Hi Deborah! I enjoy fresh lemon water too (with a pinch of cayenne and a few drops of stevia)! The oils are a great way to upgrade your water if you’re on the go and fresh lemon isn’t available. Thanks for stopping by and checking out my blog! :-)
