Oh my gosh! This southwest dipping sauce is F-A-N-T-A-S-T-I-C!!! The dipping possibilities are endless! We enjoyed this on a bed of romaine with a Sunshine Falafel Burger. I just recently tried the Sunshine burgers for the first time since they were on sale at our local coop. They have 9 grams of protein and are gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free and vegan ~ best of all, they are awesome tasting!
Southwest Dipping Sauce
- 2 t. Frank’s Hot Sauce
- 5 T. Vegenaise
- few pinches of cayenne pepper
- 5-7 drops of Liquid Smoke
- 3-5 pinches of garlic powder
Mix all ingredients in a small bowl and serve. The measurements listed are approximate because I was tasting and adjusting as I went along.

Hi Keri! Falafel is a middle-eastern food. Traditionally it’s basically chickpeas mashed with other spices and deep fat fried. However, these Sunshine burgers are a healthy version of that ~ they utilize organic cooked brown rice, organic cooked chick peas, organic ground raw sunflower seeds, organic cooked yellow split peas, organic tahini (organic ground toasted sesame seeds), organic cumin, organic garlic, organic parsley, sea salt; bake in the oven until crispy. Yum yum!

Thanks Kaity! Vegenaise worked as a great transitional product for me coming off the Standard American Diet. But these days it’s used more as the exception than the rule. I try not to rely too much on condiments with the exception of organic mustards, organic healthy oils (flax, olive, coconut), hot sauce, etc.
