Hello everyone! I have a new favorite superfood smoothie! This would be a great coffee replacement for those who are trying to kick the coffee habit. It gives you the same energy and pep but without the acidity or caffeine shakes! If you are interested in learning more about superfoods, check out my FAQ: Superfood page here and Superfood Recipes here.
Tahini Carob Smoothie
- 2 T. raw tahini
- 2 T. raw carob powder (or cocoa powder)
- 5 drops medicine flower vanilla extract (or a dash of pure vanilla extract)
- 2 cups filtered water
- 2 small frozen bananas
- 1 small banana
- 1 cup ice
Add all ingredients except ice to the Vitamix blender and blend until smooth. Next, add the ice cubes as the Vitamix blender continues to run. When ice is incorporated it’s ready to serve! Yields 2 servings, approximately 16 ounces each.
If tahini is new to you please don’t let it shy you away from trying this delicious and fulfilling smoothie. Tahini is ground sesame seeds which have a peanut butter-like texture. I use tahini in salad dressings, raw desserts and smoothies. It is high in B vitamins, calcium and omega 3′s. I purchase tahini at my local coop because they grind it fresh, it is raw & organic and it is much cheaper than commercial jarred brands.
