I have been trying to get on the kale chip bandwagon for the last two years but I was never impressed with any of the recipes I tried. That was until last night when I magically whipped up this batch of kale chips which are reminiscent of sour cream ‘n’ onion potato chips! What a fun and delicious way to eat your leafy greens!
Sour Cream ‘n’ Onion Flavored Kale Chips
- 1 head of dino kale (washed, de-stemmed and torn into pieces)
- 2 T. extra virgin olive oil
- 1 t. liquid smoke
- 1 T. apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 – 1 t. garlic powder
- 1/4 – 1/2 t. onion powder
- 3 pinches of sea salt
Place the kale in a large bowl. Sprinkle the olive oil, liquid smoke, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder and sea salt over the kale. Mix very thoroughly to ensure all pieces of the kale are covered with the seasoning. Pour the kale onto a large baking pan sprayed with olive oil and spread the kale pieces out evenly. Bake at 285 degrees Fahrenheit for 45 minutes turning the kale pieces occasionally.
Notes:
These are best eaten the same day they are prepared. However, with that being said, they were a fabulous tasty addition to my salad the next day. They added a fantastic flavor and texture to my daily lunch salad.

Hi Tina! Kale is so awesome ~ you can use it in smoothies, kale chips, steamed as a side dish, etc. I wish our farmers market was open but with living in Minnesota that season is short-lived. Thanks for stopping by!

Hi Jenny! Glad to hear you love the kale chips! I don’t have a dehydrator so the oven must suffice! Thanks for stopping by my blog. Best to you!

Like Dov said, I like Kale a lot! I’ve never considered baking it, or adding all of the above. However, I’ll probably give it a whirl. It sounds good… I’m not a fan of oil or salt… but we’ll see.

I love this. I just started working on my diet in January. Not to diet, but to improve my nutritional habits and this is a great way to do that.
